Please refer to your letter of 12th February seeking our approval to a proposal whereby the Government of Hong Kong should follow the precedent of Federation of Malaya in quoting salaries in local currency; leave salaries and pensions paid in the U.K. being converted from dollars to sterling at the Government rate of exchange.
